This ballerina painting is an example of how I pull ideas from my life. As I child I spent most of my free time in a dance studio. Dance was my life but ballet was not for me, jazz and tap were more my speed. I didn’t have the body for Ballet but I did admire those dancers who excelled where I did not. In this painting the young dancer has just performed her first solo and these are her thoughts as she is taking her bow. I see her as a blooming ballerina.
My work includes fabric mosaic. The fabric is created by me and cut up in a mosaic pattern. I intentionally create this artwork so you can not easily read the phrases. I want to viewer to be inspired by it, not dictate what you should think.
The thoughts included in this painting:
“The best night of my life! I’m floating on air, I’m a star. My hard work paid off. How many curtain calls was that? This is heaven! I’m grateful for this moment. Where are the flowers? Oh, there they are! Pinch me, I’m dreaming. Look mom, I made it.”
