This waterfall is subject to the rain. I started painting this in the morning and the water was rushing from the rain fall the night before. As I continued to paint the waterfall became skinnier and skinnier, slowly running out of water from above. It was like the waterfall was a live as I watched it twist and turn and start to shrink.
From 1975 to 1984, I lived in Craig, Colorado ( 40 miles to the west of Steamboat Springs). I love to paint on location and I painted this waterfall in watercolors in the early 1980's. It was fun to come back and paint her again.
