Rolf Stoll was born in Heidelberg, Germany in 1892. He emigrated to the United States in 1912, settling in New York City and studying at the school of the National Academy of Design. He worked for a time as a commercial artist before moving to Cleveland, Ohio and joining the faculty of the Cleveland School of Art in 1926. Stoll was a member of the Cleveland Society of Artists, the Cleveland Print Club and the Kokoon Art Club, and his works many public and private collections, including the Nebraska Arts Association, the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Toledo Museum of Art, the Dayton Art Institute, and the Columbus Museum.
