May Elizabeth Cook, born in Chillicothe, Ohio, was a Columbus sculptor. Cook studied in Paris at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts and the Academy Colarossi, and later went on to become a member of the National Sculpture Society, the American Ceramic Society, and the National Art Club. She exhibited in New York, Philadelphia, and Columbus, where her Peter Pan statue stands in front of the downtown Columbus Metropolitan Library. Also trained in anatomy, Cook sculpted life masks to help plastic surgeons reconstruct the faces of 500 soldiers wounded in World War I.
