Artist: Charles Csuri (American, b. 1922)
Charles Csuri was born in Grant Town, West Virgina, in 1922. Despite being named football All-American at The Ohio State University in 1940’s, he turned down offers to play professional football to study art at the graduate level at OSU. He eventually taught at OSU with artist Roy Lichtenstein. Csuri created the first computer art in 1964 and is known for pioneering the field of computer graphics, computer animation, and digital fine art. He later became Professor Emeritus at OSU’s Advanced Computing Center for Art and Design.
