"All You Need" features a large, heart-shaped form centered on a pale background. The heart is filled with a textured, speckled pattern (gunpowder burn) that gives it a sense of depth and an organic, weathered appearance. Above the heart, the word "LOVE" is written in a loose, handwritten style. The overall composition is simple yet evocative, combining the boldness of the heart shape with the subtle complexity of the textural details inside it. The piece is framed in a light wooden frame that complements the soft tones of the artwork and measures 20" x 16" x 2.5".
This new body of work explores the interplay between passion, pain, and transformation through the unique medium of gunpowder. By creating images of hearts ignited and shaped with gunpowder, accompanied by handwritten , I aim to represent a better, more creative use for an element traditionally associated with destruction. Born of passion and fire, these pieces reflect the duality of love—its ability to heal and to burn.
For those who have ever felt the sting of a painful relationship, these works speak directly to that experience. They are a tribute to the emotional wounds left behind and an invitation to find beauty and meaning in the aftermath. The raw intensity of the gunpowder’s explosive textures mirrors the complexity of love’s impact on the human heart.
Technically, this series is created using gunpowder on mixed media 100 percent cotton paper, which is then mounted onto thick wood panels. The love sayings, written delicately in pencil on the front, add a layer of intimacy and vulnerability to each piece. These minimal, monochromatic works draw attention to the contrast between their explosive textures and the simplicity of their form. Painting uses acrylic paint, graphite and gunpowder.
