Trail Dreams was inspired by mountain biking in SE Michigan. However, it's not an actual place. It’s a daydream fabricated on good memories about getting out there and contending with the trail. It portrays the exhilaration one feels when moving quickly through the trees. First person perspective, jeweled tones, dappled sunlight, and motion blur helps to draw the viewer into this imaginary landscape.
Trail Dreams was awarded 1st Place in the 2018 Canvas Pontiac Art Competition by Barbara Heller, Director and Conservator of Special Projects at the Detroit Institute of Arts.
Interesting side note, I traded this painting for a very nice mountain bike.
