Inspired after a couple of trips to Lake Michigan, I reflected on changing climate stresses, and wondered about the sustainability of all the fresh water that surrounds our state. I pondered a future where water might need to me made, looking somewhat synthetic like the colored water you see in some fountains.
Understanding and painting water is tricky. Experimentation led me to follow underlying brushstrokes visible on the surface of the canvas to organically replicate the movement of water and capture various peaks and valleys. Making Waves embraces and accepts all previous mistakes as instrumental to the growth and compositional energy of the finished waterscape.
