I Still Have My Rock & Roll Dreams

The energy in this self portrait is generated by painting contrasting gradients. The painting is based on a photo that I simplified to a single channel of black and white in Photoshop. I used a projector to sketch the image onto the canvas which had the radial background already painted. Then, I painted my image with complementary and/or split complementary colors to that of the radial gradient.

While working on this painting, I also wrote a song of the same name. The song has self-effacing lyrics about a middle-aged man still hanging on to his younger self’s dreams. The song will be released later this year.
