Sunrise
Pastel on Fabriano paper
28 x 38 cm
“Sunrise” a visual symphony capturing the ethereal dance of a sunrise. Brilliant hues cascade across the canvas, each colour a brushstroke of emotion, echoing the kaleidoscope of feelings that accompany the unveiling of dawn.
Influenced by the artistic spirit of David Blackburn, a prominent British artist, my pastel work reflects the dynamic interplay of light and form. The intensity of the sunrise is rendered with bold strokes and bright tones, inviting you to feel the warmth and energy of a new day.
Charcoal black lines interweave with the vivid colours, defining the contours of the landscape and infusing the scene with a sense of mystery. These lines, reminiscent of the delicate yet powerful influence of Arshile Gorky, add depth and contrast, guiding the eye through the emotional narrative of the sunrise.
Hints of Kandinsky's abstract expressionism manifest in the rhythmic composition, where each element harmonises with the next, creating a visual melody that resonates with the viewer. The abstract nature of the piece allows for a personal interpretation, inviting you to explore the emotions evoked by the sunrise in your own unique way.
This pastel abstraction is not just a visual feast but an immersive experience, a celebration of the atmospheric spectacle that is a sunrise. It's an ode to the artists who have shaped my creative journey and an invitation for you to join in the dance of colours and emotions as a new day unfolds.
