"All in a hot and copper sky,
The bloody Sun, at noon,
Right up above the mast did stand,
No bigger than the Moon.
Day after day, day after day,
We stuck, nor breath nor motion;
As idle as a painted ship
Upon a painted ocean."
The Rime of the Ancient Mariner by Samuel Taylor Coleridge and my early morning walks and swims by Deal Pier inspired this painting.
Getting up early to see the sunrise has been one of the great joys during lockdown. Nature gives us such pleasure, in deal we are so fortunate be able to watch the sun rise over the sea. What a bonus it is when it's red!
