Saint Francis's story is not so much about his heroic deeds as it is about the depth of love he had for even the smallest of creatures – especially birds. He even famously preached to them to ask them to be thankful for the bounties they are given daily. In my life, I sometimes feel insignificant, like a bird, and like them, I am provided for. I have a bounty of blessings, imparting a deep and perfect joy. My struggle is to be wise enough to recognize these gifts daily even when circumstances are less than "perfect."
