Ben Kikuyama, Telecom Dog, 1999, recycled answering machine (c.1980s), phones, and plywood, 16 x 27 x 8 inches, Mary L. Johnson Specialty Services, Stanford Children's Health. Donated by Peter and Helen Bing. Telecom Dog has a blocky body composed of an answering machine from the 1980s, embellished with paint. A hinged, green painted television remote acts as the wagging tail for this whimsical dog, and the addition of a spiral phone cord leash gives the viewer the sense that the artwork could be walked by its owner at any time.
