Kate Salenfriend, Loving Light 4106, oil paint and gold leaf on canvas, 48 x 60 inches, Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford, West. Donated by Bruce and Elizabeth Dunlevie. "Loving Light 4106" explores the effect of morning light as it moves through a blue sky and a landscape of aspen trees. Gold leaf applications provide a glimmering effect which is in constant motion. The thick layers of paint and glazes are typical for Kate Salenfriend who introduced texture into her work after studying crumbling reliefs in Pompeii.
