In this painting, I want the viewer to walk along the Chicago River on a warm summer night. The composition reveals in cool blues and greens the city’s power and strength, the scale of the riverfront buildings, and the heavy iron span of State Street Bridge. In contrast, the warm glow of lights and mirrored reflections in the water soften the scene and indicate the masses of fellow Chicagoans living and moving about the city. Looking closely, several other bridges can be seen fading smaller and smaller looking west…an iconic view of this magical city.
