Since reading Barbara Kingsolver's Prodigal Summer many years ago, I've been fascinated with moths. They're magically whimsical and impossibly varied. Finding myself with a similarly varied stack of small floor samples after a home improvement project, I realized the small 4-inch size was perfect to begin a journey to celebrate these tiny, beautiful creatures. In Kingsolver's book, "Moth Love" is a way of finding and fighting for what one loves and believes, often in unconventional ways. Inspired by this, I've used unconventional means to create these pieces, mixing a wide variety of mediums and materials to achieve a variety of visual results that (hopefully) do justice to each individual's unique characteristics, while also taking some creative license to add my own little 'creator' twists here and there. I hope one of these (or an Eclipse of them!) may bring some magic to spaces near and far.
