11” x 14” Acrylic, crayon, graphite on Archival Paper that has been bonded to a 1.5 deep Wood Cradle with sides painted Black. It is wired on the back and “Ready to Hang”.
I've found that preliminary sketches have a quality I sometimes can't reproduce in a finished work, particularly gestural studies done in Life Drawing workshops. Since they are on newsprint paper, they only serve to be used as resources.
So I tried doing a sketch on gessoed paper to provide and archival surface and using graphite instead of charcoal. Then, adding an acrylic abstracted background, gestural study sketches have become "Contemporary Fine Art
