After a spring of limping around recovering from knee surgery, I was able to get into a kayak and paddle around a lake. Moving through the water, feeling the summer sun and warm air on my skin was invigorating. The brightly colored sunfish gliding near us was an added thrill. I felt like I was back and alive again. Like the line from Mary Oliver’s Poem, “Mornings at Blackwater”

…So come to the pond,
or river of your imagination,
or harbor of your longing, and put your lips to the world.
And live
your life.
