Colección Bonampak
Mexico City, DF
This site was created to offer an space for data about and a spark for the ignition of interest in the contributions of Latinamerican Art.
MessageFounded by Federico Lopez Fagundez, Bonampak Collection is based in Mexico City, New York and Buenos Aires. Its mission is to enhance appreciation of the diversity and wide range of art from The Americas. BoCo achieves these goals through the preservation, presentation, and study of the material culture of the Latino world—ranging from the ethnographic to the contemporary.
There are three areas of focus within the BONAMPAK COLLECTION: modernist figurative and geometric abstraction from Latin America; artworks and documentation of traveler artists who explored and worked in Latin America and the Caribbean during the 20th century; and contemporary art from Latin America and beyond.
The core of modern art in the Bonampak Collection consists of works by Latin American artists of the twentieth century, particularly the major figures of neo figurative and geometric abstraction movements.
Responding to an open and interactive vision of Latin America that extends beyond national borders, the BC also includes a referential ensemble of pieces by North American artists whose production is ever present in the dialogue between artists of the region and the history of Western art.
Whether produced in Latin America or elsewhere, by artists of the region or of other nationalities, abstract or figurative, what ties these works together in the heart of a single collection is the vision of a Latin America that is broad, diverse and profoundly integrated into the history of world art.
Spanish Collection view:
Estamos comprometidos con atender: i) La formación y fomento de la colección según una política de coleccionismo cuyos argumentos rebasan la autoridad inconmovible de un gusto personal como coleccionista, en aras de profundizar en la complejidad de los procesos artísticos. De este modo, el rigor profesional de la colección se decide según la eficacia de ésta para responder a esa complejidad;
