Two male tom turkeys strutting for one female, competing for a chance... These turkeys were observed with binoculars, sketches were made and much of this painting was rapidly constructed while watching these turkeys about a hundred yards away, in a patch of open pasture at the edge of woods. Just by chance, it was a good day for watching turkeys.
