ABOUT THIS PRINT
The Mecca was a popular student restaurant across the street from the Florida State University (FSU) campus. Produced following creative printmaking class with Arthur Deshaies at FSU in the summer of 1965, after the artist was discharged from active duty in the army.
PROCESS DESCRIPTION
The source drawing was done at the Mecca Restaurant. The clear plexiglass was placed over the darwing, and the image, seen through the plexiglass, engraved and scratched into the plexiglass plate. The plate was inked, wiped and printed in intaglio manner, with black ink only, on dampened printmaking paper. Proofed, not editioned.
