Knob Lake in the Chugach Mountains, about a hundred miles northeast of Anchorage, summertime 2023. Painted on the rough texture side of the pressed wood hardboard panel. Note that some of the painting, especially evident in the mountains at right side, remains in an unfinished state. This artist feels there is a visual integrity that is part of work painted from life on location. Introducing any work NOT done on location is apt to introduce some superficiality which he wishes to avoid. In Alaska, with fleeting summer, today's greens come and go, Fall colors change quickly into a brown landscape -- before one can get back to that spot down the road. So it is not unusual for some of his landscape paintings to be left in an unfinished condition if circumstances do not permit follow up the next day or soonest thereafter.
