Intended to become an oil painting on hardboard, it never got past the drawing stage. Snow geese are in the air, over Copper River east of Glennallen, Alaska. These geese have recently arrived, migrated from the south for their summertime visit to Alaska. They rested on the ice of the river, which was nearing Spring break-up time. Their destination is likely north to the Arctic coast of Alaska. / Along the highway, there was a pull-off that provided a fabulous view overlooking the Copper River and the big mountains of the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park. The artist did several small paintings at this site. And started this one.
