ABOUT THIS PRINT
Image from sketches made on the beach in Indialantic and Melbourne, Florida.
PROCESS DESCRIPTION
The image is in three pieces of linoleum, each glued to half-inch plywood.
Block 1) Sky is solid, ink mix of blue and Flake White oil paint. The oil paint yellowing in time.
Block 2) The ocean, solid blue-green mixed with Flake White oil paint.
Block 3) Solid linoleum, beach sand carved, the boy, girl, Coca-Cola and blanket carved. A stencil was cut to allow silver ink to be applied by roller, but not getting ink onto the carved beach sand.
All three pieces inked and placed together to make the image – the beach sand un-inked and creating an embossed sand area, the Hosho paper being somewhat thick and taking the emboss satisfactorily.
