There’s a great story about these Cherries. They were created by the original fruit stand-prenuer, Frank Omidi, who came to LA from Tehran in 1982 when her was 18 years old, fleeing a revolution. He was writing the words ‘Strawberries, Cherries, Peaches’ on signs but the police told him it would cause traffic accidents to have people read the signs, so that’s when he came up with the image of each fruit. All the LA fruit stands copy his original designs (or they worked for him at some point). Perfectly weathered by sunshine, sea breeze, and the PCH.
