D. George Prisbe was born and raised in the farming community of Roscoe, SD. His professional art training began at Northern State University in Aberdeen, SD, and he later completed graduate work at Ohio University. Influenced by the American Landscape Tradition, George has been painting the South Dakota landscape for decades, beginning with large abstract works and evolving to small intimate scenes – inspired by Tonalism. His work is found in many public and private collections, including the South Dakota Arts Museum in Brookings, SD, and large-scale paintings for private South Dakota businesses.
