Cultures have embraced the use of symbols for protection, in jewellery, costume, tattoo & skin marking form, for oodles of time. I believe there are locations which are particularly great at providing, for the mind and soul, the perfect haven to wrap oneself in nature's protective blanket and replenish one's courage quota. The Sunshine Coast is one such spot for me.
