The quilt is attributed to Mary Tayloe Lloyd Key, the wife of Francis Scott Key. This unfinished paper template quilt top incorporates many scraps of fabric that are strategically (usually symmetrically) placed color wise to form flower-like blocks that are surrounded by light green fabric. The hexagonal shape of individual quilt pieces is echoed in the overall design of the quilt top.
