Times of joy and celebration, are what the artist had in mind when she designed the quilt. Setsuko chose a fabric with cranes about to take flight because she liked the feeling they gave of adventure - the burst of energy that is needed, explosion of noise, and the exhilaration of flight.

The darker colored fabric comes from antique garments over 100 years old. The bright colored fabric comes from a used Shinto wedding robe. The gold and silver metallic threads along with a black thread are woven in to form the design. There are touches of satin stitched thread put in by hand for accent.
