Therese says this was her first quilt, done for her daughter Bridget.

From the artist:
"I took a picture (a slide) of my daughter, Bridget, who was a few months old at the time. I projected the image onto a piece of paper and made a line drawing and used this as a pattern for my repeated puzzle interchange pattern. I also used squares and triangles to balance out my design. This was one of my first attempts at machine applique. My fabrics were comprised of wool clothing, some of which were old garments of mine and others I collected from Goodwill.
The "Bridget Quilt" was published in Jean Ray Laury's 1970 book, "Quilts and Coverlets: A Contemporary Approach" and was exhibited at the "Egg and the Eye" Gallery (now the Craft and Folk Art Museum) in Los Angeles in 1971.
I finished the "Bridget Quilt" just before my "Therese Quilt", which was chosen as one of the 100 Best American Quilts of the 20th Century."
