My mother, who was an industrial weaver, brought me up to sew and knit, so textiles have always been part of my life. I have developed a series of “woven” glass. This vessel represents woven twill. The depth of the bowl shows both sides of the glass “fabric” as it drapes, and lets the light transmit though.
This piece is made using glass stringers fused onto glass sheet, then cut and refused, then slumped through a hand cut ring and cold worked.
