There’s a rhythm I keep returning to in my life and in my work, the quiet understanding that nothing stays fixed.
- Not the tide.
- Not our emotions.
- Not the seasons we move through.
This painting Ebb and Flow felt deeply personal. It came from a place of surrender, of learning to trust the pull back as much as the surge forward.
As an artist, and as a human, I’ve had moments of expansion… and moments of retreat. Times when inspiration rushes in like a wave, and times when it gently recedes.
In this piece, I was thinking about the coastline, that meeting point between movement and stillness. The horizon holds steady, but everything beneath it is constantly shifting. That tension, that dance, is where I find so much beauty.
Each layer of paint was a breath in and breath out. A reminder that flow doesn’t mean force. It means listening. It means allowing.
I think we all live in this ebb and flow. Growth and pause. Clarity and uncertainty. Holding on and letting go.
If this piece speaks to you, maybe it’s because you’re in your own tide right now. And wherever you are, rising or retreating, just remember it’s part of the rhythm.
✨ What season are you in right now, ebb or flow?
