With this quilt I experimented with improvisational piecing to create an abstract landscape and combined this with dense hand quilting showing the topography of the region. I chose this location because it is where my aunt and uncle live and when I looked at a map and saw the shapes and textures made by the hollows and valleys, I couldn’t help myself. The blues loosely represent water and the pink shows their home.
