Close to our cabin in northern Saskatchewan, Hayes Lake is a beautiful little lake that always draws my attention, especially the tall grasses and reeds that adorn its banks. This piece originated as a loose painting on commercial cotton with textile paint and Shiva Paintstiks. I added depth through thread painting and crafted a border using a curved piecing technique, featuring vibrant batik fabrics alongside Kaffe Fassett stripes. The free motion quilting throughout suggests a dynamic flow, unifying the entire artwork.
