Stephen Kaye is an American painter who was born in the 20th Century. Little is known about his personal life.
He is well known for his larger, very textured landscape and floral paintings. The method of painting is oil painting and impasto with a palette knife, creating a 3D effect. An Italian word for “mixture,” impasto is used to describe a painting technique wherein paint is thickly laid on a surface, so that brushstrokes or palette knife marks are visible.
Stephen Kaye's work has been offered at auction multiple times, with realized prices ranging from 6 USD to 325 USD, depending on the size and medium of the artwork. Since 2014 the record price for this artist at auction is 325 USD for Stephen Kaye. Oil/Canvas, sold at Briggs Auction in 2023.
Minimum value for this painting is considered $100 and maximum is $200, though recent auctions of his work have set records year after year since 2014. Because of the large size of this work, the maximum value range can easily be assumed.
