My work is concerned with the vessel, following the ideals of integrity and clarity of form, created space and surface treatment. Pieces develop, one following the other, in an empirical manner.
Each builds on ideas in previous pots as variations on a theme. Porcelain allows me the surface to extend and unify that expression through applications of color, using oxide stains and textured ash glazes applied sometimes vigorously, other times softly, with stencil and brush.
Covered Jar is figurative and displays minimal explorations of combining slabs and thrown parts.
