This work was influenced by my desire to paint. Chip Off the Old Bowl was one of a series of surface design explorations. The previous forms had little or no decoration and when I changed the form (by lowering and opening it) the decoration moved inward. This allowed the bowl to become a canvas.

Headquartered in Columbia, S.C., the SCAC is funded by the state of South Carolina, by the federal government through the National Endowment for the Arts, and other sources.
