"STOP THE MADNESS!" is a bold demand that seeps out of the darkness of an unquiet mind. This painting was born of racing thoughts, as an outlet to express the overwhelming sense of madness that accompanies an episode of mania. Madness, whether you like it or not, can creep up in the darkness or in the light. It'll shock even the veteran into a state of alarm. When madness descends, there's no telling what might happen - in this case, dark ink creates a forest of dying roses, the brick red petals formed with the thickened layer atop a can of enamel paint. Cyan and yellow lines are makeshift stems, the thorns formed with splatters of gold spray paint. Luminescent powder is a whisper of light shining through the darkness. Madness is hard to stop because it creeps up, through the safety of the shrubbery, until it's right on top of you. The only thing left to do is shriek, "STOP THE MADNESS!"
