“LISTEN” strikes the viewer. The sun shines straight into the center: a burst of yellow acrylic ink commands the attention of an audience, demanding to be heard. Vertical lines imply growth; this is a forest of new possibilities, of past stories, flourishing to be discovered when the time and circumstances are right. To “LISTEN” requires taking the space and time to cultivate your own forest AND your ability to hear others. To “LISTEN” is to be a guest in someone’s forest, to explore and to observe the roots, branches, blooms, and scars. Blue is the color of communication and calming energy. Listening is essential to communication. Navy blue plants its roots with shadows of shimmering cyan and highlights in icy blue. Magenta blossoms live underneath and between the vines - deeper into the branches, even more color peeks out. To see it all, you have to “LISTEN”. In clusters, there are buds of pink, yellow, and blue in the form of dollops of acrylic. If nurtured, they will bloom. To “LISTEN” is to nurture.
