Abstract Materialism lends itself to excess. In “Fall From Grace”, an orange background gets nearly lost to the numerous layers of brick red, vermillion, indigo, white, black… and on and on. Each layer seems to follow a different pattern; the reds are densely packed around the center, embellished with rhinestones, adding a unique bumpy texture. The indigo is intermingling with the other layers, but still the bold lines cutting across stand out. Splashes of purple, yellow, and gray cannot be overlooked--but the real star may be the white drip layer at the forefront. In asymmetrical zig-zags, nearly opaque white spills down with lots of skinny legs. Is this a “Fall From Grace?”
