Latin for "American Peace", Pax Americana was coined after WWII to express a sense of relative peace and economic prosperity. In this piece, "American Peace" represents all that is American: colonialism, or the killing and forced assimilation of indigenous peoples; capitalism, or the dramatic wealth disparities where corporations and billionaires control so much of the economy that everyone else is forced to work for them to survive; and patriotism, or the idea that America hasn't been great since the Reagan days, maybe before - the sense that America cannot be at fault, she cannot be to blame. The palette is patriotic, yet not overtly so - inspiration was drawn from mid-century automobile advertisements. This is "American Peace".
