Summer in Coastal Maine evokes all the pleasures of summer. Your feet on lush grass. Verdant landscape thick with trees. A blue green ocean rich with fresh seafood. On the harbor, the lobster boats hum in the early mornings before sunrise. Life is in perfect rhythm of the tides, the seasons.
Like in New Orleans, where weather can change in an instant, Maine’s landscape is constantly changing. Fog gives way to warm sunlight. A storm sweeps in stealing the light. This constant change provides a setting to pay attention. To the hum of life all around us. This set of paintings is Sarah Griffin Thibodeaux’s work over the last four years, as she has explored the area of Mount Desert Island close to Arcadia National Park.
