This is a wonderful Pink Cockatoo, astride a 1940s model 7 Sunbeam Mixmaster - just like the one my mother used to make my favourite chocolate cake. The bird is an Australian favourite, previously known as a Major Mitchell. The name was changed in recognition that Sir Thomas Mitchell, the surveyor general of New South Wales from 1828 to 1855, was in fact responsible for a massacre of indigenous Kureinji and Barkindji people on the banks of the Murray River.
