Sadashiva Sculpture, Elephanta Caves, Mumbai (2016) by Sanjay Marathe Image: This majestic masterpiece, the 7-meter high three headed Shiva is located deep inside a rock cut cave at Elephanta island near Mumbai. Though sculpted in the very hard basalt rock, it beautifully depicts the serene expressions. The sculpture represents the three aspects of Shiva: the Creator, the Preserver, and the Destroyer. It dates back to the mid 5th - 7th century CE. With very low available light and no tripods permitted, I had to photograph it handheld, with a digital SLR camera.
