Ganga Aarti-1, Haridwar (2005) by Sanjay Marathe Image: Witnessing and photographing the Ganga Aarti at Har-Ki-Pauri in Haridwar is a truly special experience. As dusk settles, pilgrims, tourists, and priests gather along the riverbank to worship Goddess Ganga, affectionately called ‘Ganga-ji.’ Earthen lamps (diyas) and flowers drift on the water, accompanied by the rhythmic chanting of mantras and the ringing of bells. The atmosphere is both electrifying and peaceful. Words can hardly do justice to the moment, but this is my attempt to capture its essence despite the challenge of low light and handheld photography.
