Handbuilt construction created from two draped slabs in a vessel that were trimmed, joined and the seam smoothed out. A base foot was added, a hole cut in the top, and then the piece was carved with an original design reflecting the artist’s observation of nature and years of scuba diving, meaty corals, textures and terrain.
After a bisque firing, the piece was hand painted with underglazes, glaze trailed and dipped in an overall glaze. This item is created with a white, cone 6, mid-fire clay fired in oxidation to 2200ºF. This piece is food-safe, dishwasher safe and microwavable.
