In this mixed-media painting, a combination of oil paint and cold wax are applied on wood to achieve a variety of tone and texture. Colors merge in hues of steely lavender, shocking pink, warm copper, a range of creams, punctuated by areas of graphite gray. One of the special features of this painting lies in its subtle textures. Areas alternate from the softly scratched to the deeply gouged, revealing the layers beneath as well as a dynamic energy and gesture.
This mixed media painting is affixed to a light natural wood frame, which is left raw on the sides for contrast.
