Contemporary painter, Paula Morgan has lived in New England all of her life. She lives with her husband and three children in the scenic artist’s haven of Cape Ann, Massachusetts. It's their life together on and around the water that serves as the major inspiration for her creative work.
Paula received a Bachelor’s of Fine Art degree in Illustration from Rhode Island School of Design (1996), and her Masters of Education from Salem State College (2008). She has served as a teacher of visual arts in private and public settings for over 19 years and currently teaches in her home town of Gloucester, MA. Her work with school aged children provides endless joy and an honest connection to the creative process.
Paula works out of her studio built by her husband on their property. The studio has become instrumental in providing a space for Paula to create her art while balancing work and family life. She works primarily with oils. Her recent works include landscape, boat compositions, still life, portraits and figures. She depicts her subjects with energetic strokes, and emotion with a special emphasis on color, light and composition. Paula’s paintings are a journey into stillness and serenity. The tranquility found in her work is made available to the viewer. Her style shares characteristics of impressionism and realism. Paula finds beauty in many art movements, but credits the impressionist and post-impressionist painters as her greatest influences.
Paula shows her work locally as a recent member of The Rocky Neck Art Colony Art Association. She also contributes work annually to the Montserrat College of Art Inspired Views Art Educator’s group show. She is excited to expand her audience through her new affiliation with Sandra Morgan Interiors as an emerging artist for their Art Privé Gallery.
