Artist: Tito Conti (Italian, 1842-1924)
Italian painter and resident professor at the Academic College of Fine Arts of Florence. Conti was known as a painter of historical and genre scenes as well as being 19th century Italy's most important figure painter. "Bianca" is a clear example of this style. People of the time responded strongly to his vibrant colors and graceful figures of elegant ladies and luxurious settings. Conti's work is included in Le Musee de Mayence, Italy and Modern Art Gallery, Florence, Italy.
Tito Conti has to be considered one of the more accomplished painters of this period. With his elegant ladies and fine dressed maids we are spoilt with the sheer luxury with which he decorates the canvas. Where Tito Conti sets himself apart from other artists of this subject is with his portrayal of these women with an almost roguish, flirtatious quality. He dares to cross the boundary of the canvas by getting his ladies to blatantly flirt with the viewer.
