Artist: Cornelis de Bruin (Dutch, 1879-1940)
Cornelis de Bruin, a very productive and active artist and ceramist, received his training at the National Academy in Amsterdam. His rich oeuvre of landscapes and seascapes have a style often associated with the Hague School (1879-1940).
He signed his favorite paintings "Corns de Bruin ft" (fecit = created) or "Corns the Brown." The signature "C .de Bruin" was for his bread and butter paintings. Cornelis spent years as an artistic director at Plateelbakkerij Delft. Sometimes he designed in Germany for ceramic factories including Villeroy and Boch making dinnerware and vases, tiles, and plaques.
